Course Overview
Paediatric Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care is a two-day interactive course
comprising lectures, workshops and skills stations.
We are excited to offer this course in the Paediatric ICU at Monash Children’s Hospital with
its adjacent surgical SIM centre!
The course is intended for Advanced Trainees and Consultants.
It covers fundamental knowledge and skills for doctors working or training in PICUs, regional ICUs and other critical care environments that provide intensive care management and/or advanced resuscitation and pre-transport stabilisation of critically ill and injured children.
Aims
Prepare critical care and paediatric medical staff for the first few hours of paediatric intensive care until the patient is transferred.
Prepare non-intensivists to manage acute deterioration of critically ill paediatric patients.
Prepare paediatric, emergency medicine, and anaesthetic staff for paediatric critical care
medicine.
