Professional Bio
Suzanne Crowe graduated in medicine from Trinity College Dublin, before training as an anesthesiologist, and later as a pediatric intensivist. Her training took her to the PICU in the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne in 2005. Following fellowship there, she returned to Dublin where she was an anesthesiologist with a special interest in children for 9 years, before returning to pediatric intensive care medicine in 2014.
Suzanne is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Women and Children’s Health in the School of Medicine in University College Dublin, and Senior Lecturer in Pediatrics in the School of Medicine in TCD. She was elected to the medical regulator, the Medical Council of Ireland in 2018, and elected President in 2021. She was re-elected in 2023.
Suzanne is Chair of the National Screening Advisory Committee and a board trustee for two charities, Cheshire Ireland and LGBT Ireland.

Particular interests include bereavement studies, social justice, medical law, ethics, regulation and narrative medicine. Suzanne writes regularly for the Irish Independent newspaper and has written a book on her personal and professional experience of working in pediatric intensive care, which will be published August 2025 by Hachette.
