Leon Byker
Professional Bio
The unlikely introverted podcaster. Originally from South Africa, embarked on a life-altering journey when he relocated to Canada, with his wife Jessica in tow. Experienced rural family doctor plagued by the need to study more.
He returned to residency (Jess said yes!), and specialized in Internal Medicine, and Critical Care, followed by a fellowship in Critical Care Ultrasound. He continues to serve the people of Edmonton and beyond at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital and through the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) at the Edmonton base, Canada.
He has a special interest in the FOAMed movement and medical social media engagement. He is the father of twin girls, who are disappointed that he doesn’t do cool surgeries. He cohosts the podcast “Critical Care Commute” frequently discussing Critical Care Ultrasound.
