Anthony McLean

Professor, Intensive Care Medicine , The University of Sydney, Retired Director Nepean Hospital ICU, Sydney, Australia.
Professor McLean was educated in New Zealand graduating from Otago University, New Zealand in 1974, completed his FRACP in Sydney in 1984, and became a Foundation Fellow of the College of Intensive CareMedicine in 2010. He gained the research degree of MD from Otago in 2007; the thesis titled ‘Critical Care Echocardiography’.
Working in both Intensive Care and Cardiology, his major research interests are the diagnosis and management of acute heat failure, role of cardiac biomarkers in the ICU, echocardiography in the critically ill and the role of gene analysis in the diagnosis of sepsis in the critically ill patient.
