Course Overview
CCAM Essentials is a half-day course specifically designed to fulfil the College of Intensive Care Medicine Specialist High Level Requirement (SHLR).
Please note that CCAM Essentials does NOT fulfil the criteria for the Advanced Airway Skills training requirement for the CICM Fellowship – please attend the full CCAM course for this purpose.
CCAM Essentials fulfils the CICM SLHR (Airway) requirements in that it provides:
- An in-person practical workshop, preparatory and post activity components comprising a minimum of 3 hours of learning.
- Simulation activities that involve performing intubation on appropriate manikins to expose participants to difficult airway scenarios and include team-based responses.
- Training is aspects of airway management of critically ill patients that specifically consider:
- Airways assessment
- Approaches to the difficult airway and airway emergencies
- Teamwork and leadership in an airway crisis
- Familiarity with equipment
- CICO algorithms (can’t intubate, can’t oxygenate)
- Management of tracheostomy emergencies
Date: Friday 5th September 2025, Registration from 0830, course complete at 1245.
Registration will start from 8.30am and there will be online modules to accompany the course as pre-reading. These will be sent to you at least a week before the course.
Venue: Royal North Shore Hospital Intensive Care Unit, Level 6, Acute Services Building, Reserve Road St Leonards 2065.
